Enjoy your taco seasoning in a taco salad with organic tortilla chips!
We grew up eating taco salad. In fact, I am sure that after roast and potatoes, taco salad would fall next in line to my daddy's favorite dish. He still has it atleast once a week or so. My family enjoys it as well. We have learned to add a few things to make it our own. One of those things that we have learned to do is to make our own taco seasoning! I have tried a few homemade recipes and they have seemed to fall short on flavor. I believe (according to our palate) that we have figured out a pretty good combination.
Taco Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon Real sea salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon basil
1 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1/4 teaspoon thyme
2 teaspoons arrowroot powder or cornstarch (I use arrowroot powder)
1 cup water
This will be the amount you add to 1 pound of organic ground beef or venison. After you cook your meat, drain the fat and add seasonings. In a cup of water, mix the arrowroot powder well and pour over meat. Heat on low and add to taco salad, burritos, quesidillas, chili, etc.... We buy our organic herbs and spices in one pound bulk and that saves us a TON of money. We end up using them fairly quickly.
Enjoy,
Nichole
